Memo for Friends and Supporters of the Beatty for U.S. Senate Campaign
April 15, 2008The campaign is heating up and we’ve had a lot going on. We reached the million dollar mark, raising $1,000,000 from nearly 30,000 individual donations! But this is just the start. I need your help in establishing fundraising opportunities and developing local events.
The campaign continues to be in the news and we are pushing for more. Last week I discussed illegal immigration on WKTK and am now sorting through a host of media invites. I am still eagerly awaiting the chance to debate my opponent and would gladly accept the challenge.
In the past 2 weeks, I’ve met with Fall River residents and their Chamber of Commerce to work on an economic revitalization plan for Southeastern Massachusetts; attended the Holbrook gun show; addressed the Republican town committees of both Burlington and Freetown; spoken at Candidate’s Night dinner in Franklin and met with other Republican businessmen and women.
Check out the events calendar on my website to see when and where I’ll be in the coming weeks. Here’s a brief look ahead to where the campaign is going:
- 15 April – A candidate’s debate and forum at Boston College, for BC students. Call 603-566-3761 for info.
- 16 April – At the request of the Framingham State Students Forum, I will be speaking at the Ecumenical Center at Framingham State. This event is open to everyone. Contact fsconservatives@gmail.com for further information.
- 17 April – I will be the guest of honor at a meet and greet reception at the Colonial Inn at Monument Square in Concord from 5 PM to 7 PM. For further information contact ConcordGOP@aol.com
I’m very excited about the progress we’re making, but to continue on this increasingly active pace, I need your help. One of the most important campaign tasks is collecting signatures for the nomination papers. I need at least 10,000 valid signatures (that means over 20,000 raw signatures) by the end of April to get on the ballot. We are off to a good start, but we need additional volunteers for the rest of April. We can easily reach our goal if we each get just 100 signatures a week. All participants will be invited to the Successful Signature Drive Barbeque in May, so please contact us to see how you can help.
If you haven’t signed yet yourself, there’s still time. This week we will be collecting signatures at the following locations:
- 15 April - South Shore Mall, Braintree
- 16 April - Westgate Mall, Brockton (10-4)
- 17 April - Hanover Mall, Hanover (9-3)
- 17 & 18 April —South Station (7:30-9:30 AM)
- 18 & 19 April —Independence Mall, Kingston
- 20 April - Quincy
Once we clear the signature hurdle, we still have much work ahead of us to defeat a primary opponent and then John Kerry, the out of touch multi-millionaire. I am always looking for opportunities to fundraise, receive endorsements and employ volunteers, so please contact my campaign staff.
As always, please feel free to contact me or my Chief of Staff, James, if you have questions or comments. And make sure to add me on Facebook! Again, thanks for your help!
